Marina Ponto

Marina Ponto is a descendant of Volga German families who were deported from the colony of Norka in 1941 to Gonohovo, Altai District of Siberia. She has grownup in Siberia and attended Tomsk University, where she earned a degree in Math and Computer Science. She moved to Canada in 1999 and presently working as a senior business analyst with Alberta Health Services.

Following her passion for the genealogy she took a few trips to Germany and Russia to explore the settlement locations and re-created a ‘lost branch’ of Webber family tree.

She is also an accomplished musician, shared her voice with Calgary Philharmonic and Bach Society Choruses and works as a stage manager for Calgary and Canmore Folk festivals.
